Started in October 2010, Turn Star is geared not only to promote performers but also offers an entertaining platform of participation for the visitors to this video web site. If you're a performer and want to get noticed simply upload your video to Turn Star.
The advantages, and there are many, are that this web site has been geared for search engine optimisation and so a quick search on your performance will be all it takes to find you. Plus you'll have this ability to submit details About yourself as well as a contact e-mail address for interested parties & fans to get in touch. The site also has a links feature to point people to your MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, DailyMotion and YouTube pages and or to your own web site. "Why should I bother to post my video to Turn Star!" I hear you shout. Well because Turn Star is not behind an login system it's contents are directly available to the public to view on the internet. This means that your links to your other sites should act as extra promotion and your performances will be ranked more highly in search engines hopefully resulting in more visitors and fans.
On top of this the viewing public can, if they like you, Digg or Facebook your star turn. The Digg button is particularly useful in that it allows for not only positive comments and feedback but also acts by providing extra links. The same could be said for the Facebook button although this more about "social networking".
From the point of view of the general public (you the audience) Turn Star is rapidly becoming a favourite place to stop by for some entertainment, and for a number of reasons, not least of which is that you're seeing new talent or stuff that is not already famous. So it's fresh! Better yet, you have the power at your mouse click to Buzz an act off the stage or if you're really impressed with a performance, Digg or Facebook it thus helping to promote it.
Why doesn't Turn Star have a "comments field" directly on the page? Is a good question but one that's easily answered. The comments on the pages you see elsewhere on the internet aren't as useful a way of promoting a page as Digg because, as mentioned before, Digg actually works by providing external links to a performers page on a web site! Facebook is similar. So if you really like a performance Digg AND Facebook it.
